I hope that you have been able to share your life with your family? I know that it is difficult for many children to understand that parents want their children to be happy, more so satisfied, rather than economically successful.
A lifetime of dedicated hard work requires us to want our children to be self-sufficient and not solely because of a prestigious job.
I am fortunate. My children still ‘share’ with me their fears, their shortcomings as well as their triumphs. I feel honored that they feel comfortable enough with me to talk to me about their lives, whether good, bad or indifferent.
So much of our lives are lived hiding behind a facade even with those we love. How much do we sacrifice because we are more attached to these facades than our true needs as human beings?
We must learn to share because by doing so we become more humane by trusting that we are more than superficial expectations. Your mother and father deserve to know everything about the jewel they have loved and supported. I would posit that they would prefer knowing what truly brings you joy instead of not knowing you at all.
