The battery capacity like I mentioned earlier it’s retained from the m31 6000mah and given our experience with that phone I’m expecting battery life to be nothing short of fantastic here now fitting in such a high capacity battery does come with a size penalty but honestly, Samsung has managed to keep the m31s at 9.3 millimeters ever so slightly thicker than the m31 but you gotta remember they’ve now fit in a larger screen and one more camera sensor and that has to take up space.

we’re talking about new things Samsung’s included the charger we finally got 25-watt fast charging uh on the m series the charger is included in the box and should help the m31s get from 0 to 100 in an hour 37. now that makes it quite a huge jump from the 15-watt fast charger on the last 10 m31 we even have wired reverse charging here through the type c port

as for the software experience, it’s the same one UI 2.1 built on top of Android 10. now the biggest positive for one UI right now is that it’s not Chinese and doesn’t have any pre-installed apps that have been banned by the Indian government for a lot of people that will make this a more secure option it’s also a well-optimized the feature-rich interface we’ve seen a lot of these features in the past now dark mode is something that really impressed me here on this AMOLED screen all the regular gestures they’re present in the content for this FM radio this face unlock which happens to work quite well too now

talking about face unlock let’s touch upon the cameras to the back the primary sensor on the galaxy m31s is a 64-megapixel snapper just like with the m31 it comes with an f 1.8 lens as expected it takes crisp looking photos with vivid colors and great dynamic range we even have the ai scene optimizer it is here to the bottom right of the screen and it tweaks the color profile depending on our shooting environment and subjects

Samsung has also thrown in a dedicated night mode and it comes in handy for those low light snaps software-wise we now have a single take as we had previously mentioned in a teaser video this is a feature that Samsung introduced earlier this year with their flagship s20 series and I’m happy to see it trickle down to the mid-range

the phone captures a mix of pictures and videos and even applies filters to some of those snaps and then gives us the choice of saving the ones we like the most all they’re saying you guessed it a single take and hence the name moving on to

the next sensor we have an upgraded 12-megapixel snapper paired with an ultra-wide lens one with 123-degree field of view this seems to be one of the better ultra-wide options in this price segment the remaining two cameras are both 5 megapixels one is the usual depth sensor that helps Samsung's live focus adjust bokeh while shooting or even in the post and then we have a macro camera which again seems to be quite good

so from the display to the charging speeds and even optics Samsung's made quite a few upgrades to the m31s yes a faster soc inside would have been great but for what it is the m31s seems like a decent little performer especially for those looking to buy a non-Chinese phone in the under 20k bracket we can get the 6 +128 GB variant from Rs. 19,500 and the higher 8 + 128 GB it starts at Rs. 21,500 so 2k higher overall
