The Story Behind the Atheist Box
The past 3 days have been very exciting for the Atheist Box team.
We have quickly gained hundreds of likes on our Facebook page, and hundreds of more invitation requests on our pre-launch page.
Each day closer to launch gets more exciting than the last.
But You Have Lots of Questions, Right?
Via email and Facebook, we have received a lot of questions. Namely, “What exactly is in the box?”
Fair question. And I’ll admit — we’ve purposely been a bit vague. But don’t take it personally. Teasing you a little bit is part of the process. I promise more information is coming soon, and we’ll be 100% transparent with you before you’re ever asked to spend a single dollar on the Atheist Box.
To answer this question the best we can at this time, the Atheist Box is a monthly subscription box that will arrive at your door the same time each month filled with different and unique gifts, swag, apparel, education, inspiration and more.
The items will be different each month, and you’ll always know what the items are before they ship out (except for when we add a few extra surprises from time to time). If you ever want to cancel or sit a month out, you can do that. And if you ever have an idea for something you want to see in the box, just tell us so we can make it happen!
“But I can buy my own T-Shirts. Why would I need to subscribe to your box?”
Well, for one, it’s not just t-shirts that we send. Weren’t you paying attention to what I just said, guy who is asking this question that I made up?
Here’s why this box is so incredible.
Many of our items are created by us and 100% unique; you can’t get them anywhere else. Additionally, since our subscriber base is quite large, we are ordering items in bulk and receiving discounts that you can’t get on your own.
Here’s An Example:
One of our first boxes will include this t-shirt, among other things. This t-shirt would normally cost you $23. Because of the relationship that we have created with the Richard Dawkins foundation, we have struck a deal to buy these shirts for a small fraction of that cost.
That means we can send you this t-shirt, along with a few other awesome things, and pack it and ship it — for way cheaper than any single individual could get the items without our service.
Will we get lots of anti-Christian stuff in the box?
No. The Atheist Box is not about Christians. Or any other religion. And we don’t plan on spending any time bashing anyone for their beliefs.
The Atheist Box promotes positivity and doing good for others. Simply because we believe in the idea of humanity — with or without a god. So, the items that you’ll receive each month will be celebrating your atheism-ness and include ways to do good — without the need for heaven or fear of hell as your motivation to do good.
Even though some Christians have been negative towards us in this endeavor, at least some have promised to pray for us!!
The point is, the items included will be focused around atheism and science, and are designed to help you learn, grow, laugh, look good, feel good, do good and support some good causes in the process (a portion of proceeds will go to American Atheists and other worthwhile causes).

Maybe I should have lead with that.
I am 30 years old, a father, and the leader of the Atheist Box team. I am a Christian and attend church 3 times a week.
Ok that last sentence was a lie. Obviously I am atheist. I created the Atheist Box as a way to bring together like-minded people through a product that I am passionate about. I believe that the Atheist Box is a product that will bring you joy each month. And I will literally work 25 hours a day, 8 days a week to deliver on that time and time again.

Next Steps
We are wrapping most everything up and will be launching our first box very soon. We expect the first box to be mailed out in January.
If you haven’t already, please request an invite at: http://launch.atheistbox.com
That will not commit you to anything, and all we ask you for is an email. We will then send out invites in batches. This is a startup, and if we opened it up to everyone all at once, our team wouldn’t be able to provide the level of customer service that we feel you deserve. That makes it necessary to open up membership in batches to make sure that we can grow our team with you and maintain a high level of personal attention. So please be patient and we will send you an invite soon!
By the end of this month, our website should be complete. Around that same time, we’ll be able to show you a photo of the very first Atheist Box. I know you’re dying to see it and it’s killing us to wait — but trust me! You’ll be able to (finally) see what exactly is in box #1 and we will send out the first batch of invites. If you receive an invite and are ready to join, you will be able to do so and will then receive your first box shortly thereafter!
Then we’ll release more invites and so on.
We will also build some type of online community so that you guys can always talk directly with our team, offer feedback, suggestions, and even talk to one another if you want.
But this isn’t some big corporate thingy. There will not be any 1–800 number to call. You’ll have the cell phone number for everyone on our team. So if something happens to your box, you want to sit one out, you want to cancel (noooooo!!), then you just call us and we pick up and say, “Hello”. You won’t ever have to press 1 for english or 2 for espanol. (Hablamos los dos idiomas. — We speak both languages ☺)
