At 18, I made a declaration to myself that I’d be a millionaire and financially free at 30. I’m turning 25 in a few days and I have not done anything to reach that goal.

What’s worse is I’m further away from my goal now than I was back then.

In the last week of 2020, I did a self reflection. I realised how much time I spent aimlessly scrolling through Tik Tok. And I hated that.

As a self-proclaimed content creator, I was consuming a lot more than I was creating. I would watch Tik Tok while taking a dump, during lunch, on the way to work and back, during dinner, and before bed.

It was taking over my life. My productivity went downhill.

Sure, you know about all the latest trends Gen Zs are up to. And there are really great content out there. I learnt a lot…

“She doesn’t look like someone with anxiety”

That’s what I heard. My answer to that was, “yeah, that’s the thing about mental illnesses. You can’t tell when someone’s suffering from it.”

That conversation reminded me that we never what a person is going through and we shouldn’t be too quick to judge their actions. Everyone is fighting their own battles. Unfortunately, some battles are bigger than others.

Some people might be on the brink of their tolerance and they get easily irritated. Some of them might lash it out on you even when you’ve done nothing wrong.

People love talking about others. They point out your flaws, weaknesses and mistakes. They do it behind your back when you’re not around. But when you’re around, they pretend to have your best interest at heart.

They can’t help themselves. Gossiping is how they pass the time.

They downplay others because that’s the only way they know how to let go of their stress, jealousy, etc. Instead of confronting the problems head on, they would rather talk behind your back. It’s cowardly but that’s also human. They are hurting and they don’t know how to deal with it.

I’ve come…

2 years into writing on Medium, I’m finally ready to branch out of my comfort zone. I’ve been wanting to make videos for the longest time but I fear the judgement that comes with it.

“Why are you wasting time?”

“You’re not as good as others”

“Ew, it’s so cringy”

These are some of the words I’ve heard in the past. It isn’t said to me directly but to the brave people around me who publish their work online. I see the negativity they have to deal with. And I shy away from it.

After years of writing behind a screen, I realise it isn’t so bad.

With every person that dislikes your…

You can’t change your life overnight but you can start implementing microhabits every day. In less than a year, you will see the differences.

Contrary to the “21 days” myth, it actually takes more than 2 months for habits to form. Seems long? Not at all.

The results from your new tiny behaviour shift will snowball into a huge impact as time goes by. Think of it as the compound interest of life.

We subconsciously acquire a lot of habits throughout our life, which some are good while others… not so much. …
