Lesson From The First Semester

Getting here in August I was very anxious. Seven hours away from home is not exactly the longest distance but for me it felt like it. I knew a lot of my classes would be boring and hard because of it being typical first year classes, but that's not the thing I was most worried about. I was nervous about how I was going to be truly be by myself for the first time. I came here not knowing anyone except two people I met in my orientation group and my parents not being there for me to catch me incase I fell. Now almost four months in, I realized that I can make it on my own. You have to rely on yourself to make things right in your own life. It takes time to adjust to a new place with new people. It might be hard finding friends at first and adjusting to college classes. You have to make your own life for yourself. You have to do what you think is right and that is all that matters.
