I have been in the restaurant industry for over 12 years now and its true, restaurants are noticing; employees and customers are becoming more health conscious. Two months ago, I saw the movie “What The Health” which was recommended to me by my business partner, who is a Naturopathic Doctor. The next day, I mentioned that I had watched the movie to a few of my employees, and even though the subject concerns the food industry, I was intrigued that they weren’t really paying that much attention. My employees are all in their early 20’s, and don’t always think about the longterm health implications regarding everyday choices. What do they have to fear, right? A couple of weeks ago, over a conversation, “What The Health” documentary came back up again and a few of them mentioned that they have already seen the movie. As a result, they have shifted to a Vegetarian lifestyles, the day after watching the movie. They couldn’t believe how much they had learned from watching the documentary, and how after changing their lifestyle they had already felt dramatically better. “What The Health” has become a daily conversation at the restaurant the last few weeks and every one is getting more conscious about their health. “WOW!” Today, another employee, once again, joined the Vegetarian lifestyle gang, which made me, as a restaurant owner, reconsider more menu options towards healthier lifestyles, even though we offer quite a few already. As a technological savvy and activist generation, we have access to information at our fingertips; however it’s many times difficult to discern which information is credible. It’s time we all start making better choices, and start supporting companies that have our best healthcare interests in mind, not just the bottom line…profits. Better solutions are currently available, and it’s time we band together to support making better, more healthier accurate choices. Stay Healthy my friends.
