Vladimir Putin Loses All His Positions At International Judo Federation
You can fight and win a battle yet you may lose the war. Maybe that is what is happening with Vladimir Putin and Russia at the moment. It has been almost two weeks since Putin attacked Ukraine with his forces and this war has taken its toll on Russia and Vladimir Putin himself.
There have been a lot of sanctions and restrictions imposed on Russia and the Russian President. The latest of these has come from one of Putin’s most loved federations — The International Judo Federation.
On February 27th when the International Judo Federation had suspended Vladimir Putin from the post of Honorary President and Ambassador of the IJF.
However, the IJF now decided that Vladimir Putin was now removed from all positions he held at the IJF.
In a short statement, the IJF announced — “The International Judo Federation announces that Mr Vladimir Putin and Mr Arkady Rotenberg have been removed from all positions held in the International Judo Federation,”
Putin had previously even co authored a book on judo titled — ‘Judo: History, Theory, Practice’.
The International Judo Federation became the latest official body to strip Putin from the posts held by him. Last month the International Taekwondo federation also announced that it was withdrawing the ‘9th Dan Black Belt’ awarded to Mr Putin in 2013.
Russia and Putin have been in the backlash of many sporting bodies and federations. UEFA has already banned Russian teams from participating in all competitions at all levels. The finals of the Champions League — one of the most prestigious competitions in the world — has already been shifted from St Petersburg to Paris. Formula one cancelled the Russian Grand Prix which was scheduled for the 25th of September.
And one of the biggest losses for Putin, Russia and Russian fans is that they have been barred from participating in the FIFA World Cup which will be played later this year in Qatar.
A FIFA World cup is one of a kind spectacle and being barred from playing in the World Cup will be a huge blow to the Russian fans and players.
