As far as I could tell, Snyder and co. were trying the exact opposite of what you wanted from the movie. The heroes in this movie are supposed to be flawed and fallible and rise above their weakness (a.k.a Snyder retained a lot of what he learned making Watchmen)

I do agree with you. The execution was so flawed, it left Bats and Supes with little worth looking up to. One can only hope the DCEU course corrects going forward (doesn’t look like we’ll be getting another reboot anytime soon, since BvS made mad money)
