Guy Martin

I attended a talk with Guy Martin and a group crit where we were able to discuss the professions within photography which interested us.

I gained valuable knowledge in how to become and maintain being a documentary photographer. I found that gaining funding can be done through competitions and applying for grants from organisations.

Personally I am not interested in this area of photography however I have found many of Guy Martin’s advice valuable in how to gain funding, and the amount of passion and dedication.

During our group discussion we found out how Instagram and other social networking sites can bring your work to people’s attention, and when to publish your work and how. Post in the evenings, weekends, 1–2 posts a day and to be unique. Only post aspects around your work to invite people to look further into the final pieces.
