“The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges,” Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Ja’Ceon Terry was a seven-year-old who was killed in July 2022 by two employees at a state-run foster care facility in Louisville, KY. His death was ruled a homicide by asphyxiation. In other words, that baby was suffocated to death by two adults.

Those two employees were fired by Brooklawn for their role in Ja’Ceon’s death. Prior to Ja’Ceon’s killing there had not been any complaints against Brooklawn for abuse of children. In response to the killing of Ja’Ceon, the state of Kentucky has closed some of the cottage houses at the facility.

My brother and I spent a very short amount of time in foster care because of our mama, who struggled with addiction to alcohol and drugs. I’m going to go hard for Ja’Ceon and I need you to join me.

Here are three action steps that you can take if you want “the bright day of justice” to emerge for Ja’Ceon:

1) Contact Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg and tell him to direct LMPD to release the findings from their investigation, and to immediately arrest the two people who killed Ja’Ceon. You can call Mayor Greenberg at (502) 574–2003 or email him here.

Mayor Greenberg’s political platform is “A New Direction.” Well, a new direction would be to hold public employees accountable when they kill children. Mayor Greenberg needs to be “all-in on public safety” for Ja’Ceon. Anything less is a cover up.

2) Contact Governor Andy Beshear and tell him to direct the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services to release the Department for Community Based Services review of Brooklawn’s policies, practices and procedures. You can call Governor Beshear at (502) 564–2611 or email him here.

3) Share this post to help get justice for Ja’Ceon.
