Yoga is one of those practices that has been in this world for a very long time; it was practiced by yogis and hermits during the Vedic time, which originated in India.

Although throughout the years, the originality of yoga and its practices might have lost its touch and new forms also have been incorporated, but the sole purpose and its meaning remain the same.

The practices of yoga can help one gain benefits and observe changes in their overall body that are unexplainable and astonishing for one’s intellect.

The advancement in science and technology has also helped in exploring the various grounds of the advantages of yoga. Many research works have supported the benefits of full proven tests and results that cannot be thought of.

Having said so, like any other excise or practice, certain disadvantages come lingering with yoga; these disadvantages might be very few and unreasonable, but it is never wrong to known what you might be diving into.

Here I will be listing a few of the advantages and disadvantages of yoga that you must know before you try and incorporate the practice into your daily regime.

ADVANTAGES OF YOGA

  • No equipment is needed- unlike other exercises involving the various forms of costly equipment, yoga is a form of exercise that requires only two things, you and your body.
  • It can be practiced indoors or outdoors- unlike other activities like swimming or running, which require a swimming pool, a playground, and field, etc. The simple poses of yoga can be performed anywhere within the premises of your house or outside.
  • Improves mental health improves concentration and increase in brain gray matter
  • Help in the prevention of various health disorders (such as back pain, diabetes, blood sugar level, heart, lungs, etc.)
  • Increases flexibility in our body
  • The sensation of relaxation and tension free mind

DISADVANTAGES OF YOGA

  • It might not be suitable for all age-group- Although certain poses’ simplicity might give you an illusion that anyone can perform it, few complicated poses cannot be carried out by a few older people.
  • People with disabilities should not practice yoga- Yoga can create stress in your muscles, and thus this can negatively impact people with disabilities or pregnant women as well; thus, this isn’t good for all kind of people.
  • Inability to find guidance- A proper guidance is very important, especially if you are a beginner and have not previous experience in yoga or any form of exercise. To find a qualified yoga teacher can be challenging
  • Cause of Injuries- If yoga isn’t practiced correctly with proper guidance, one might just injury themselves.

Now that you went through all the advantages and disadvantages of yoga, I am sure you might have noticed that, unlike other exercises, not only can the disadvantages be avoided but can also be rectified, for instance.

In fact, finding a good yoga teacher will help you out to prevent most of the disadvantages.

Thus, the benefits of yoga go beyond words and cannot be replaced with any other form, even in the near future.
