Why are All Organic Mattresses So Expensive?!

Is so-called Organic bedding simply a marketing campaign addressed to the wealthiest, most decadent and privileged of the yuppies, Jews, and the hippie upper class?

I hoped to find a modest sustainably and ethically made futon mattress for under $200.

Misled by living in a Buddhist Zendo where they got the futon mattresses wholesale to sleep on the floor, I thought I could get some sortof organic *shikibuton* mattress for environ $80.

Looking for a Queen size for an affordable price, I could only find Moses baskets, crib mattresses, and mattress toppers within my price range.

This Moses Basket was actually almost all ten of the first ten search results when I searched both “futon” and “organic” on Etsy.

It actually made me cry, and not laughter tears.

Why can’t some intelligent eco-friendly company come up with decent mattresses in the $100-$200 range?

This is real, not photoshopped.

I guarantee you would make a lot of money marketing to average, awesome, working class, and even poor Americans, who don’t earn enough to spend the thousands of dollars that many so-called Organic mattresses cost.

Quote “Green” Mattress Companies: YOU WOULD EVEN SAVE THE FUCKING ENVIRONMENT AND THE SOUL OF GLOBAL ECONOMY IF YOU STARTED EVEN CONSIDERING MARKETING TO THE “LOWER CLASSES.” Jesus Christ!

There has got to be some sustainable material you can use. What about say, straw?

Come on guys, read a book. You can do it.

Bay Area, American engineers, sustainability experts you have no excuse. The time is now.
