According to the American Film Institute, An Affair to Remember, directed by Leo McCarey, is considered as one of the most romantic films of all time. It stars Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr as main roles and filmed in CinemaScope and was distributed by 20th Century Fox. The film was a remake of 1939 film Love Affair (starring Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer) of the same director. The 1994 movie Love Affair starring Warren Beatty and Annette Bening is a remake of this 1957 film.

A paperback novelization of the screenplay was also published by the American novelist R.V. Cassill under the pseudonym Owen Aherne.
