Strategies For App Discoverability — Indexing Your App in Google Search Results

Did you know that:

  1. There are more than 1 million apps in the Google Play.

2. And there is an average of 36 mobile apps installed on any phone and 3/4 of the apps are rarely used.

There are so much noise and clutter in the App Store and on a mobile users’ phone. What are the strategies a marketer or app developer can leverage to get your apps discovered, installed and also drive re-engagement.

App Indexing for SERP

Google has recently introduced App Indexing in the Google I/O 2015. It means that mobile users can discover your app through Google Search.

Benefits:

1.Drive App Installs ( For Android Apps Only)

If a mobile user search for content related to your app; in search results the mobile user will see your Android app in the search results. This helps in app discoverability and mobile users will find it relevant since they are actively looking for the solution based on keywords searched. And they discover your mobile app outside the Google Play Store.

2. Drive Repeat Visits (For Android and IOS)

When mobile users have your app installed on their mobile device, when they search for content this is found on your app via Google Search. Search results can link mobile users directly to the content on Google Search Results.

3. Query Auto- Completion on Your App ( Android Only)

Google has developed an App Indexing API to enable query auto-completion on the Google App. For example if a mobile user search on Google, he/ she will enjoy auto-completion of their search query i.e. see your appear appear in the auto-completion drop-down. This drives re-engagement to your app through automatic query completions.
