I think traveling makes you appreciate everything in a way you never did before.
I’ve been in Spain now for a month and I always thought my destiny was abroad, but now I’m not so sure.
It’s not just the normal homesickness that every traveler gets here and there.
I’ve always been patriotic. I love my country. But now I don’t think I want to live without that patriotism, which can only be found from your home.
It’s the fact that after seeing and learning first hand how another country works I am of the sound determination that the United States is the best.
Maybe this is a common sentiment from young Americans.
I’ve heard my classmates talking about home and more than a few of them have said they think the U.S. is the best, letting their patriotism show.
What I don’t get is that most of them were ashamed of this fact, or the fact that they believed/thought it.
To me that’s ridiculous. There’s no other word for it.
I think America is the best, and now that sentiment has been engrained in me from this experience, but it is not shameful.
Actually, I am more excited to work for the U.S government in supporting our ideals and helping other countries grow.
The fact that I believe we are the best does not make me a pig headed nationalist, but a U.S. patriot ready to help those I can and those who need it.
I do have to say though, and this might be the homesickness speaking, but I would much rather achieve this goal from the comforts of the U.S than from another country.
