The Death of @JFK

Good luck, John. You don’t need me to tell you this, but you violated the rules, specifically:

Impersonation: You may not impersonate others through the Twitter service in a manner that is intended to or does mislead, confuse, or deceive others.

If you have created an account called “NotJFK” or “fakeJFK,” your tweets would’ve been fine. But as your wise wife pointed out, you brought this on yourself.

I’m sure you’ve read it now, but the rules on parody accounts are clear: https://support.twitter.com/articles/106373

Unless you want someone grabbing the account @ JohnFitzgeraldKelley and saying demeaning things to people when they think they are engaging with you — and you don’t — then Twitter’s rules seem reasonable.

I hope you get special dispensation, but there may be a small regional airport that would be glad to grab the Twitter handle you chose to give up.
