And then there’s the wave of hype based on broadly discussed first time experiences (initial novelty) and well publicized reactions to the very best VR content on the high end Vive/Rift platforms. It’s easy to see an initial wave of disillusionment when larger audiences quickly tire of the lower-end experiences that don’t meet or sustain expectations.
Eventually quality platforms will be affordable and widely available, and more and more impressive content will come out (plus remarkable new uses and tools for daily life). I think mass adoption will be inevitable once that happens.
