OverREACT-ed Programmer
It is currently 1:30am on a Sunday morning and most are spending time with friends and partying at this time of night. But here I am early on the a.m taking a quick break to talk about how happily lit and genuinely EXCITED I am to learn REACT.
The past few weeks of learning React has been challenging but extremely amazing. Learning to code is the furthest thing from easy but I enjoy every bit of the process. This is definitely the hardest thing I have ever done. However, there is a different spark within me while learning to code. I am currently closing in on week 3 in Phase 2 of my very intense coding bootcamp , which means that it is project week !! WOOT WOOT. I am so excited to build and create my own web application with REACT. My first week of learning REACT was pretty rough. I struggled a lot with grasping the concept of how to structure components and the use of hooks. Here I am 2 weeks n a half later from struggling , completely in LOVE with it .. again! The only reason I say again is because the weekend before my 1st lecture on react I watched a crash course on YT and went through a react lab and I immediately became eager for my lecture to start on Monday..Funny thing is I even tweeted about it because I was soooo excited. & Boy did that escalate quickly!!
HOW IT STARTED…
5 DAYS LATER….
HOW IT ENDED ..
See what happend there ? I just overREACT-ed a bit.. My journey has been just that. A complete roller-coster of emotions in which I thrive off of. The most important thing I have learned is that it is a MUST to trust the process. Especially when you are learning to code. I am someone who wants to see immediate results. I am learning that having patience is much needed when learning a new programming language , framework etc. There is just so much to learn and which is also what keeps my excited and motivated when learning different languages. There’s so much beauty in the process and being patient with yourself is a must. However, the beauty in looking back on how much you have learned and progressed is an icredible feeling. So please if you are learning a new programming language be gentle with yourself and know that as long as you are consistently learning and building you are strengthening your skills. Next time you are worked up about the process just remind yourself that you are overREACt-ing but you 100% got this !
Don’t forget to celebrate your small WINS and enjoy the roller coaster ride of never ending learning !
