Fear: Scuba Diving

I have not wandered
 Into that vast expanse
 So blue and deep
 Disappearing into
 an invisible infinity.

I’m not the warrior
 Who’d risk such a feat
 To wander into treachery
 Surrounded by
 an army of Unknown foes.

That place is for them
I’ve only seen it in my head
 That’s where it will stay
 Unencumbered by
 The pain of really doing.

Even the thought itself
 Opens a valve of dread
 Pouring fear through my blood
 Rendering me
 Motionless, helpless, and alone.
