My office chair is way bigger than my overall size. Everyone says I look timid in that chair. The chair which I am using lack in lumber support. The chair also does not have any function to lower or increase the height of the chair. After a few weeks, my lower back started to pain. Though the pain was not that bad, but then slowly it started to pain continuously i.e. all day long. My friends pointed out that the faulty office chair was the culprit for all of these. One day, I took off from the office, that day I was going to visit the doctor regarding my back pain. He prescribed me some pain killers and anti-biotic. The very next day I asked my HR manager to please change my present chair. She was very kind and promptly asks the ground staff, to replace my chair. The next day, I was quiet amaze to find the same chair being placed at my cubicle. I questioned about the same to the ground staff representative. He pointed out that all the chairs present in the office are of the same kind.

I searched many websites to find solutions to my problem. At the end, there was one article describing similar issues. The article also depicted what would be the dire consequences of office furniture with company’s productivity. I took a print out of that article and had a chat with our HR manager. She was smart enough to understand what I was trying to say with the help of the article.

Two days letter there was a notice posted on the office notice board. The article was posted alongside the notice. Later on the weekend, we came to know that management has asked everyone that what type of problem they are facing, with the present office furniture. It was also stipulated that as per the requirement, all the office furniture was to be brought from Office Furniture 4 Sale. A office furniture shop situated in Miami.

So, this was my story telling how office furniture affects companies environment and work culture. And one more thing my back pain is cured now.
