“You are what you eat.”

A pretty common phrase. Humans are able to pick and choose what we eat, even if we know it is bad for us. What about animals, specifically sheep?

There have been many studies, most notably those of Dr. Fred Provenza and colleagues, that prove animals have the inherent ability to balance their own dietary needs. Yet, humans and animal nutritionists know better?

Sheep will balance their diet by selecting certain types of plants to eat and at what times to eat them. For instance, if a sheep is feeling “wormy”…
