Looking for freelance clients? Don’t underestimate the value of Craigslist.

When you think of searching for freelance work, Craigslist may not be the first thing that comes to mind.

But don’t underestimate it. Craigslist can be a great way to find reputable, well-paying freelance clients.

A word of caution, however: Don’t do “spec” work, meaning ignore any posting (or any person, for that matter) who asks you to work for free while dangling future opportunities.

For example, if you’re a writer, then you’ve already got writing samples. You could just send those over. You’ve already got writing samples, so you could just send those over. But no, the folks asking for free work aren’t interested in your writing samples. They’re interested in baiting unsuspecting writers with no intention of ever producing a paying gig.

So beware.

With that in mind, go to: https://yourcity.craigslist.org/. (Note: you have to enter the name of your city manually.)

Click on your skill or specialization underneath jobs, and then see if anyone has left an interesting posting. The good postings will mention dollar amounts, usually in the upper right.

So give it a go!

Check Craigslist for freelance jobs in your city or cities near you.

And while you’re at it…

If you’re ready to grow your freelance business today, then don’t forget to check out my guide, “Get Better Freelance Clients.”

It’s got a 29-day action plan that will tell you exactly what to do, step by step.

I gathered up all of the strategies and tactics that helped me ramp up my freelance business and consistently earn $100,000+.

→ Then, I organized them all in roughly chronological order.

→ Then, I added clear instructions for each step.

→ Then, I added templates and other resources so that there’s zero guesswork.

When life is crazy — my wife and I have three kids, so yeah — you may realistically only be able to work on your business, not in your business, about 15 minutes per day.

You must make the most of that business development and marketing time!

So the key is focusing on what you can do (not on what you can’t) and finishing one small, specific action each day.

Today, that one specific action is getting Get Better Freelance Clients — 29-Day Action Plan.
