Getting Organized: mind, body and environment
What do we think of immediately when we think about organizing?
Papers, our desk work, clothes… and so on
I’ve learned from several mentors who take the act of organizing anything to the next level. Actually, they’ve made it an art!
Wallet
Home to our identity, quick spending money, business contact information, and sometime even coupons. Do we need to carry all of that real estate on ourselves all the time though? Truthfully, a lot of the things we carry can just stay at home, kept somewhere safer for later use. You don’t have to bring you Guitar Center membership card everywhere. Keep it in the glove compartment of your car so when you do go, you still have easy access to it.
I’m a young guy, and the pictures below are my wallet and the contents within. My wallet was FAT, however, filled with things that really didn’t need to be there. It was clutter, basically, and needed to be cleaned up and organized.

Running
It’s more than just hitting a specific number of steps a day with your iPhone (I know many people do this, including me). Running is a great way to clear your mind, relieve some stress and simply a reason to be closer to nature!
This was actually a challenge to see if we could break out of our own limitations. The goal was to either run, jog, or walk 2 miles without stopping. Two miles is a good start to a healthy mind, heart, and body in general.
Phone
The most frequently used item in our everyday lives. Some of us even refer to it as a pocket computer. Keeping this piece of real estate clean and tidy can benefit productivity that’s overlooked. You don’t have to scramble each time you’re looking for specific apps, and you get to see a cleaner interface whenever your device is on!
Cleaning your phone physically also helps you feel that your device is newer and up to more challenging tasks. Do this whenever you feel that your device is slowing down or whenever you feel it’s being cluttered. I like to refresh my phone every few months (3–4 give or take) so it gives me a new palate to work with.

Bonus
Ever heard of the saying “You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with”?
The same goes for your workspace.
Giving yourself a clean environment to work in really helps you laser focus with what you need to get done. I typically have my laptop, water bottle, a notebook and pens on my desk while everything that’s not needed is on the side. Set yourself up for success!
