Inversion

Inversion: ‘subject + do / does + verb’ (‘do’ means really).

Also, we often use the opposite word order in the structure ‘Under no circumstances…’ (Inversion).

And, we often use the opposite word order in the structure ‘Not only…(opposite) but also…’ (Inversion).

Keep note, we often use the opposite word order in the structure: ‘No sooner/ Hardly /In no way etc (had done something) when (something happened)’ Inversion.

For instance:

A. No sooner had I sat down than the phone rang (Inversion)

B. I do understand you.
