This week you streamed live to give a Coronavirus update, and a reporter asked you about reducing California’s incarcerated population. You made a very intentional point to say “I have no interest in releasing violent criminals.” As a formerly incarcerated person with friends in prison who are at high-risk of dying when the Coronavirus inevitably sweeps their cellblocks, I have strong feelings about your response.
