The “Honda Acura RDX” 2019

Over the course of ten years, three generations of Acura have been introd. There have been various different phases in the exterior design of Acura RDX. For instance, the first generation looks similar to that of a hatchback vehicle, the second generation had a more conventional look. And, finally, the third and current generation of the Acura RDX has a great emphasis on the technology and have sporty driving dynamics.
In order to manufacture the new RDX, Acura has claimed to set the bar to the level of the three German giants. That includes the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class.
Acura has also challenged the Swedish giant Volvo XC60, Lexus NX, Infiniti QX50, Cadillac XT5, Lincoln MKC and Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
The Acura RDX is available to the masses in four different trim levels. That is base, Tech, A-Spec and Advance trim levels.
All of these aforementioned trim levels have the standard FWD, whereas there is a $2000 option for all-wheel drive.
The MSRP of the base trim level is $37300, A-Spec has $43500 and Advance trim level has $45400.
The A-Spec and The Advance trim level are basically value-added packages. The A-Spec features include GPS, 12-speaker surround audio system, and leather upholstery.
While The Advance takes it up a notch with 16-speaker surround audio system, a HUD and an active suspension.

What’s the new interior and technology?

The dashboard of the Honda Acura RDX is totally different from any other current crossover. It also has got drive-mode knob that is similar to of their NSX model that sits at the front and the center.
The center console also has got a room for storing your smartphone. It also consists of 12 volt and USB charging ports.
However, the Acura’s new and improved True Touchpad interface, that has various infotainment function under its control.
Acura isn’t the only one that features a touchpad. Acura’s fiercest rival Lexus also offers and in its infotainment system. But the touchpad of Lexus can’t compare it to Honda Acura.
Where Lexus has only got trackpad, quite similar to that of a laptop. While Acura features press points at the corners.
Just a corner of the 10.2-inch screen, the cursor moves to that area. Or you could just swipe it across the pad of the screen to move the cursor. Hover the icon you want to select and press gently for various functions such as music, GPS, and phone.
Even though the touchpad system of Acura RDX is better than Lexus. However, it’s still not as good as compared to its other rival, BMW that features an iDrive. BMW uses a good-old fashioned analog controller to navigate on-screen menus.
Whereas it’s difficult for the driver of Acura to get the hang of touching on the screen while you’re already on the road, driving.
Acura RDX features an Apple CarPlay as a standard and WiFi hotspot. However, there is no chance of Android Auto in RDX, at least at the moment.
Apart from the tech and innovation on the infotainment system, Acura RDX also offers top-notch materials. Those include brushed aluminum and lush Olive Ash wood trim.
The A-Specs trim level offers optional red leather upholstery with grey suede inserts.
Safety Precautions
AcuraWatch is featured in all RDX trim levels as a standard to assist the drivers. Its features include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, LKAS (Lane-Keeping Assist System), adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning with a road-departure mitigation system.
Engine
Honda Acura RDX features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 272 hp that renders 280 pound-feet of torque.
The Acura RDX turbo-four cylinder is equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission with a standard Front-Wheel Drive FWD or Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD).
It was introduced in the first of the Acura RDX but was discontinued in the second generation. Now, again it has come back with a bang in the third and current generation.
It integrates torque vectoring, therefore, it stands out amongst the many of its competitors. And SH-AWD is the reason of its success.
EPA Ratings
According to EPA, Acura RDX gets a combined 24 mpg (22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway) for all FWD versions of base, tech, and A-Spec.
While it gets 23 mpg combined (21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway) for AWD versions of same trim levels.
Warranty
Acura RDX offers 4-year, 50,000-mile on basic warranty and features a 6-year 70,000-mile powertrain warranty.
All of these warranties are offered because the generation has almost a complete redesign of the models with a few and minor repetition from the former generation.
Our Verdict
This is true that Acura hasn’t got that much of a reputation as the likes of BMW, Mercedes or an Audi. However, Acura is striving to become a luxury brand and evocative in the market.
With its sporty outlook and bringing some serious swag and style and a few technological advances, RDX really stands out against its European competitors.
For a mere price of $45400 of the Advance, the top-tier of the Acura trim levels, RDX adds a great value to its parent name and brand.
It just requires a little touch-up on its on-screen touchpad and put some effort into the smooth driving experience, Acura RDX is certainly bound to achieve great heights.
How to Ship?
As a luxury brand as it is Acura, it goes without saying that it requires the utmost amount of protection in transportation as well.
For that purpose, there’s no car shipping marketplace better than Auto Transport City (ATC) to get your vehicle hauled in a jiffy with reliability and safety.
There are hundreds of car shipping companies, shipping brokers, and carriers operating in ATC. and all of them are registered with the FMCSA.
Hint: If you love your car like your very first girlfriend and want extra care and safety for your pride and joy. Then, you should go for hiring an enclosed auto transport trailer to transport your vehicle instead of an open-air trailer. As open trailers don’t have any roof and walls and therefore, are vulnerable against the potential damage that might occur from the road debris or a bad weather.
