5 Months
How did another month pass so fast?! It really is my intention to write more often. My appologies.
The last months have been great. Theo is such a pleasure to be with each day. These days remind me of what I hoped and imagined being a mom would be like. I am so grateful that Justin can support our family and that I can stay home with Theo. I find myself so satisfied with my work that I do each day.
We don’t visit the doctor again until 6 months, so I’m not sure what Theo weighs or how tall he is. I might try to do a crude measurement one of these days, but I know he’s growing (his clothes keep getting too small — well, mostly too short), and so I’m not worried about exact measurements.
At 5 months:
- rolls comfortably in all directions — from his tummy to back and from his back to tummy
- talks and coos all the time; I have little recordings of him talking that are so sweet; He particularly likes to talk if it’s quiet — like in church, and in the bathtub where it echoes; He also likes to talk if I’m on the phone or Facetiming with Justin — he works hard to talk over our conversation. ☺
- he’s starting to make the ‘d’ sound
- plays almost exclusively on his tummy; he pushes up onto his hands and shifts his weight really well, playing with toys with both hands
- he’s starting to get the hang of sitting — he can sit with his weight on his hands for a few seconds before toppling over
- sleeps through the night and goes down really well at night; he had his first non-family babysitter the night before Valentine’s day so Justin and I could go out to eat (after he went to bed)
- his naps are still hit or miss, but usually he takes at least one good one during the day in his crib
- loves the dogs; often he squeals when they come towards him
- enjoys weekly music classes — he especially loves when we dance
- loves fabric to hold onto
- loves his Sofia giraffe and his wooden bead rattle; this rattle has been his favorite toy almost the whole time he’s been playing with toys
- is starting to eat solids; he’s eaten with gusto from the very first day — so far only sweet potatoes
- is wearing 6–12 months clothes or 9 month clothes; he is still tall & slender & so cute!
