Global Jihad 2.0

I was shocked at media reports that Turkey has shot down a Russian fighter jet somewhere in Syria-Turkey border (lets not get into the location details as its contested by both sides). [I was initially sceptical that this might be propaganda news as was the case with the news that a Russian missile crashed in Iran- 1. propaganda news 2. actual news ]It makes one thing clear- Turkey wants to go all out at its neighbor Russia & has the backing of or atleast some assurances from NATO. Now why would any nation want to get into a scuffle with a more powerful neighbor? US is far away from the scene of conflict in the middle-east & since it hasn’t directly attacked Russia it won’t fire a missile into US from the Siberian side. Then why? Remember Afghanistan in late 1970s-1980s? The CIA along with Pakistan’s ISI created the Taliban, Al Qaeda & all these jihadi outfits to attack the Soviet supported government in Afghanistan. Soviet troops faced their Vietnam & the jihad spread such that USSR lost most of its Muslim population.

Today when Turkey goes against Russia it has vulnerabilities- a border with Russia & a Kurd population that wants to secede. But it has a very import card up its sleeve- Turkey might be the base for a second round of global jihad, just this time the high value target is not Russia but China.

For months there are NGOs & human rights organisations some working for & some working exclusively for the Turkmen in Syria & Iraq. Turkey has granted refuge to a huge number of Uighur “Turkmen” that has frustrated China. What if a religious & ethnic bonding is used to destabilize China from economic growth, create unrest in Chechenya & other parts of Russia & use it as a geopolitical leverage in parts of the middle-east? I shall refine by post with additional news links but if am thinking on I right track, the world will become very violent, very very violent.
