The source of all our troubles — is in our minds — not out in the world. Fundamentally, all fault lies with the individual — me, you, each one of us, is wholly accountable for our sound beliefs and actions, or lack thereof— government is merely the implementation of preexistent individual interests, and is not the source of our problems. If one improves one’s beliefs, one improves one’s self, and by each person improving themselves, thereby is the world improved — society being nothing but a collection of individuals.
“Men are so quick to blame the gods:
they say that we devise their misery
But themselves — in their depravity —
design greater griefs than the griefs that
fate assigns.”
- Homer, The Odyssey
