Sukkot celebrates God’s protection over the Jews during the difficult desert conditions they endured on their way to the Promised Land. That is why Temple Emanu-El is hosting Dr. Jonathan Crane to reevaluate the meaning behind nutrition and sustenance bodies on Wednesday, October 16 at 7 p.m.

Dr. Crane, a teacher at Emory University’s Murray Center for Ethics, will explore the realm of ethical food choices with his scholar of bioethics and Jewish thought as part of Sukkot Week during his “Enough Already! Ethics, Eating and You” discussion at Stern Chapel.

This 31st Henry D. Schlinger Ethics Symposium strives to present important yet challenging issues to the entire community. Chef Daniel Silva of Mariscos El Paisa in Mexico City’s Mercado Jamaica won the international contest to be this year’s celebrity chef and will prepare the evening’s authentic Mexican cuisine.
