Flying with Turkish Airlines? Bringing only what you need is best, but knowing their rules about bags helps make your trip easy and cheap.

Let’s talk about what you need to know for 2024:

Carry-On Bags:

You can bring one bag that’s 21.7 x 15.7 x 9.1 inches and weighs up to 17.6 pounds. You can also bring a small personal bag like a purse or laptop bag that’s 15.7 x 11.8 x 5.9 inches and weighs up to 8.8 pounds.

If you’re in Business Class, you can bring two bags with the same size and weight limits (up to 35.2 pounds total). The suit covers count as your carry-on bag. You can buy duty-free stuff, and it won’t count as your bag.

Checked Bags:

How much you can bring for free depends on your ticket and where you’re going:

Economy: 33 pounds on special tickets, 44 pounds on regular tickets.

Business: 66 pounds.

If your bags are too heavy:

For flights in Turkey: it’s 12 Turkish Lira per kilogram. For international flights: it depends on where you’re going and how heavy your bags are. Check the Baggage Calculator on Turkish Airlines’ website.

If you’re late buying extra bags:

If it’s less than 2 hours before your flight, you’ll pay more (between 60–105 Turkish Lira per kilogram).

Other important stuff:

AnadoluJet flights have different rules about bags.

Look at their website to see. You might have to pay extra if you’re bringing special stuff like sports gear or musical instruments.

It’s usually cheaper to buy extra bags online before you get to the airport. Weigh your bags before you go to avoid paying more at the airport.
