I’m not sure what audience you are aiming this post at, but even if it’s for general tourists it still seems to be cartoonishly oversimplified.

Ignatius of Loyola founded the Jesuits — to say that Basques were ‘christianized’ is to miss most of the history: Basques have been the ones doing the spread of Catholicism to the rest of the world! Ditto the suffering under Franco: Basques sub-parties were instrumental in supporting Franco! Same goes with being ‘isolated’: Basque trade and commerce underwrote not just European but world economic development!

The half-dozen regions that consider themselves Basque have a long history of internal negotiation and conflict over every major change and political decision and issue of identity: grouping them all under the topic of minority language is unfair.
