There’s _two_ fast big changes going on and many market watchers seem to keep letting the first one — fossil fuels fading — eclipse their view of the second one: the end of car culture. Design for people instead of for cars is on the rise, and our cities and farms will return to the less unsustainable layouts that they employed for the several centuries before cars took over the commercial space and destroyed our future. It’s cars that have to be stopped fast. When that happens, the knock-on benefits will fix most of our other troubles.

Kyle Reese explained it to Sarah Connor more than 20 years ago:

“Listen, and understand. That terminator [car culture] is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.”
