Prophetic Office vs. The Gift of Prophecy

In this article I want to explain the difference between the gift of prophecy vs. the office of prophet. There is a misconception between the two, and some people seem to be confused at the there differences.

God truly places you in the office of prophet at birth. If you are a prophet, you will have the “prophet’s spirit”, which is resident in all of God’s prophets. If you are a prophet called to the office, your calling will be confirmed by God, and also by other seasoned prophets, and apostles.

More often than not the people in a local church assembly you attend may also pick up on the prophetic spirit God has placed inside of you. God in His sovereignty has many ways of confirming it to you, but be encouraged because He will reveal it to you in His perfect timing.

On the other hand the gift of prophecy is different. People who may operate in the gift of prophecy, often get this confused and think they are called to the prophetic office. The gift of prophecy has a purpose to, encourage, edify, and comfort the members in the Body of Christ, the prophet’s office is more authoritative in nature at times bringing rebuke, direction, foretelling, and correction to the people of God.

Also the gift of prophecy can be activated in anyone, be it that they are a believer in Christ, and have a indwelling of the Holy Ghost. The needs of God’s people can cause this to come about, while attending a church service.

The prophetic office is designated for individuals that God chooses to occupy that particular office. Unfortunately every believer is not called to this office, its something that Jesus Christ has ordained from the beginning while you were still in your mother’s womb.

To walk in the official prophetic office, it takes years of development, preparation, and training, to become knowledgeable of the ministry, you must be willing to pay the price for the prophetic anointing. But be encouraged, God has already place in you the ability to live out your prophetic calling, and pay the price for the prophetic anointing.
