There are many people who consider spirituality and religiosity as one and the same, whereas there is a huge and deep difference between these two and both are quite different from each other.
So first of all, before knowing about spirituality, we will know what is the difference between spirituality and religiosity?

At present, as the time is progressing, everyone is getting attracted towards the spiritual world and at present, a lot of interest is seen in the subject of spirituality and there is no reiteration in saying that compared to the past few times. The coming generations will be more advanced in the field of spirituality, but for this we should understand the difference between religiosity and spirituality, so let's start understanding this deep difference.

1.) Difference between religion and spirituality –

We basically get information about religion and spirituality from two places: from people associated with them and from religious and philosophical texts.
It is described in the Vedas and philosophical texts that ‘the path to follow eternal knowledge related to soul and God and experience divine bliss is spirituality and the other is religiosity which is linked to rituals.

Some special words have been used in this sentence (such as – God, eternal knowledge, path to experience divine bliss) which would be incomprehensible words for many people, so we will also mention some of these words as well. Let's go after knowing the meaning in detail

Righteousness –
Religiosity is the external form of any religion, for example – methods of worship, traditions, customs, way of prayer etc.
Most of the things in it are man-made.

Religiosity is directly related to rituals. If these religious rituals are successful in taking us to divine experience then they have meaning, otherwise religion remains limited to rituals only, as is happening at present, religiosity based on crime and fear. It is based on the concept that religious people care more about the opinion of men than the opinion of God but spirituality goes far beyond this. Spirituality is neutral.

are as follows –
Spirituality is personal which is related to a particular person and it is not necessary that a person who is spiritual believes in any religion or is religious. Yes! It is possible that a spiritual person may be devoted to his religion or that a religious person may move towards spirituality through religious processes because religious processes are arranged in such a way that they take man towards the spiritual path or the inner world. . Spirituality is based on emotion. As seen from the point of view of spirituality, emotion is prominent in devotion. Without emotion, devotion is fruitless. But if seen in relation to religiosity, then rituals and external methods of devotion are more effectively visible in devotion. Also the goal of spirituality is love and freedom as well as complete development of consciousness because spirituality is the process which completely aims to focus on inner divinity and also it is present oriented and freedom oriented i.e. heaven is now yours. It is within and unity is the essence because there is only one God at the core of our existence, hence we are all basically one and spirituality is oriented towards this feeling of oneness.

Spirituality is informal and develops closeness internally. It promotes beauty, happiness, spontaneity, compassion and holistically uplifts the individual. It is self-directed and also practical and theoretical. Is.
Religiosity rests on a relationship between materialism and God (as defined by a particular religion’s culture, tradition, beliefs, and systems), whereas spirituality leads to experiences beyond the physical. All religions have their beginning in spirituality. And spirituality is also at the root of the establishment of religion so that through a systematic conduct and path, people can be led towards the inner journey and they can realize that there is something else in life beyond materialism which actually matters. Can be made aware.
Religiosity is community oriented and emphasizes on knowledge instead of intelligence, that is why religious texts are more important among religious people. Its goals are also obedience and salvation. All the rituals prescribed in religion are done so that virtue can be acquired. As I said, spirituality is based on emotions, in which it matters how strongly your emotions pull you towards the inner world, whereas religiosity is based on rules. It is a combination of customs and traditions and in this, more emphasis is given on following the external divinity. It is future oriented, that is, heaven is some other world instead of being within you and you will attain it after death. And you will get it as a result of your charity, virtuous deeds, religious observance and conduct and at the same time it is also duality oriented in which the parameters of good and bad, right and wrong, fair and unfair, heaven and hell remain fixed. And somewhere it is also true that in religiosity it is prominently shown that God is somewhere outside you and that to reach it you need moksha or liberation.

And for that there are many rules and regulations. Religiosity is guided by the authority, that is, rules and regulations have already been decided as to which thing has to be done in which way? Such as methods of worship and methods of prayer and It is different for all religions and there is a particular group that followrs who follows that particular religion. One good aspect of religiosity is that it promotes self-sacrifice, kindness and performance of duty to others but it is based on faith and belief rather than being theoretical and practical.
And mostly it is also that in religiosity, on one hand, God is described as the protector and maintainer, on the other hand, fear is created in the name of God, whereas the path of spirituality is such that you become a part of that supreme, that eternal truth. Even if it happens, it is still the same. That whole is not somewhere outside you but is present within you, there is a need not to express fear of it but to understand its presence and experience it at the spiritual level.

Spirituality is related to self-realization and along with conduct, yoga-meditation, pranayama, contemplation-listening, self-study of spiritual materials for the development of consciousness and spiritual upliftment are important.
In this way, there are deep differences between religiosity and spirituality which are deeply needed to be known so that spirituality and religiosity are not seen as one and the same.
