Hey folks!

This is an update on my adventures learning new data science and data engineer skills while in quarantine. You can read the previous parts at these links:

Part 1

Docker on Windows 10 Home via WSL2

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

I didn’t update last week because things got hectic between job applications and networking. Also, a coding livestream! Look below for details. And I’m sharing this week’s update late because I am in the middle of a week long technical interview challenge.

Last week, I did my first livestream for a data science project! I’m doing a soup to nuts quick project using Kaggle. I used the Pokemon dataset here and basically just did the beginnings of exploratory data analysis over 2 hours.

The recording can be found at the following links:

Twitch

Mixer (didn’t save this time)

YouTube

I did a semi walk through of setting up Anaconda, and which version to use depending on your OS, making a new repo on my computer, and doing exploratory data analysis in a Jupyter Notebook!

I’ll be streaming again and will at the very least talk about sending what I did last week up to GitHub! Tune in at 7:30pm EST on May 7th at any of the links above!

Outside of Data Science

My sourdough starter seems good! I’ve been making loaves of bread with the discard from each day to see how different they taste and it’s been fun! Although the fridge is like 40% jars of starter now.

The job I’m doing the challenge for is not actually a data science role, but the company and the work seem interesting and I figured it’d be worth checking out anyway.

Stay healthy, wash your hands, and hope to see y’all soon!
