Very interesting article Lyman. I’ve been thinking a lot about basic income and had been of the opinion that it should be flat across the board in order to encourage people to leave high cost areas for low cost areas, thereby stimulating those economies. However, you’ve presented some very good reasons for why that doesn’t work so well, and I love your idea to limit the indexing to local price levels for high priced areas.
I’m not sure I’m as big a fan regarding unemployment adjustments, but I understand your logic there as well.
