The Business of Adoption

One of the main jobs of Oklahoma City Animal Welfare is to find homes for the animals that come into our care. Big, small, young and old, unless reclaimed by an owner, our animals need new, dedicated owners to love and care for them. We are in the match making business. We try to find just the right person and match them with the right animal. Maybe it’s a high energy dog like JuJu to help them get back into running. Maybe it’s an older cat like Fraggle who likes to curl up on a lap of an older person who needs to use their hands more. Maybe it’s a single person who wants their household to become a family. Whatever the reason, our job is to help facilitate and create a lasting match.

The animals at the shelter are amazing. Most of them are used to being part of a family. With a little routine and love, they will become members of your family making it complete. A house is not a home without a pet. We encourage you think about adoption first when making a decision to find your new pet, you will be saving a life too. A win-win for everyone around.

We try to make it easy for you;

· Much like a match making service for humans, pictures of all of our animals available for adoption can be viewed on-line.

· The shelter is open daily from Noon to 5:45 to allow the opportunity to meet the animals in person.

· We offer many offsite adoption locations for you to see animals throughout the city. Click HERE for more information.

· Your new pet comes ready; already spayed or neutered, dewormed, age-appropriate vaccinations, and a free wellness exam at a participating veterinarian.

· Lots of variety to choose from and new pets every day.

OKC Animal Welfare in conjunction with over 100 adoption partners in the community has been working hard to improve the adoption rate in OKC.
