Why did the Roman Economy Decline?
Mark Koyama

Another possibility is that the decline is due to Christianity. Early christians were fundamentalist, they hated pagans (and thus much of the roman/greek civilisation), they closed the roman baths, they burned books, closed libraries, etc. Parenti in “History as Mystery” has collected some references to this.
