Feminist author, Dr. Jenainati, is taking over the position of Dean of the SAS at LAU. Female activism is an important topic to Dr. Jenainati as she stated “‘LAU has historically been the birthplace of feminist writers, feminist activists and I am at the point in my life right now where I am really shifting my work to the Middle East very firmly,’” (Nasser, 2019). She has recently published a book, Feminism: A Graphic Guide, in 2019 about women’s sexist oppression.

“Dr. Jenainati says her mission is to educate, shouldering a firm belief in the uniqueness of liberal education, and the need for experiential learning and multidisciplinary curricula,” (Nasser, 2019).

Dr. Jenainati was a full time professor at the University of Warwick, where she was chair of the UK’s Interdisciplinary Group and of the International Advisory Board of Amsterdam University College. Her studies include women’s activism and the history of education missions in the Middle East (LAU official website).

The Lebanese American University’s (LAU) President and Provost approved the appointment of Dr. Cathia Jenainati as Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) from Dr. Constantine Daher, the Dean since Oct. 2018.
