Invading Ooty with a pillion rider on my new 125cc scooter
I am planning a ride to Ooty from Bangalore this weekend on my scooter along with a pillion rider with me.
1. My travel plan:
I plan to start my trip from Bangalore to Ooty early on Sunday morning, around 6 am. I will stop in Mysore for breakfast around 9 am, and then continue on to Ooty.
Ooty is about 3 hours away from Mysore, so I will arrive in the afternoon. I will spend the day in Ooty and have a good night sleep before returning to Bangalore at 6 am the next morning.
2. Expectations from this trip:
I am quite familiar with the Bangalore-Mysore route now after my endless car drives from Bangalore to my hometown Bhatkal and back. I am not expecting anything exhilarating in this route. If I find something, that would be a bonus for me.
What I am counting more on is the route from ‘Mysore to Ooty’. Being fond of nature, it seems to me that I might find some good aspects of nature in this place.
After reaching Ooty, if the weather is the Ooty-level good, that will mean I can expect wet weather and drizzle here and there. I will go to a couple of places of attractions there.
If the expected weather does not show up, I will be relaxing my day in my hotel room while also aiming to have a good night sleep so I can ride back to Bangalore the next morning.
The best part about the Ooty trip that I am counting on comes the moment I leave back to Bangalore. I am expecting a good morning ride on my way back from Ooty in a cold mountain-top crafted in ghats with morning freshness and sun rays at its invite.
3. My goals for this trip:
I have several goals in mind for this trip.
- I want to see how the journey goes — whether it’s smooth sailing or filled with challenges
- I want to test my scooter’s endurance with a 250 kilometer trip with a pillion rider
- My ultimate aim is to make this trip as enjoyable as possible
- Find out if I have the confidence to travel solo to a similar destination in the future
- Confront my irrational fearful thoughts about scooter road trips and see if I can effectively overcome them once and for all
- Use this trip as a confidence-booster for my future travel plans
4. Why Ooty in particular?
I have been fancying a traveller’s life for quite sometime now. I had no idea where to begin.
I have been to only a handful of places till date but the long list of places I want to go requires a lot from me in terms of my time and money and alignment of my mindset, heart-set and voila!, a good physique.
I do like Ooty at its best of course but I have ended up there at its boring-boring-worst too.
For me, the good part about Ooty is that it is only a few hours and a couple of hundred kilometres away and is easier and more manageable than my impulsive fantasy-trips.
5. What travel means to me:
Some of my best moments in life have come from my (albeit limited) travels.
The level of connection I have found with myself during travels, I often found it missing in my day-to-day life.
Bursts of creativity and gratitude too, not to mention the places we usually travel do contain exceptional beauty.
Just a good way of recharging your otherwise ignored and dead self.
