Tales from Grandparents
Have you ever felt the magic of a story told by the fireside?
Grandparents.
Oh, what beings filled with warmth and sweet memories!
I remember how my grandfather always had a story ready.
The moment he sat down in his chair, he seemed to become a magician of words.
How did he manage that?!
He always captivated everyone’s attention.
Growing up with grandparents was an invaluable gift from above.
I’m not exaggerating!
They were the ones who listened to me when I felt the world was against me.
And always, but always, they had a wise solution or advice, which of course, I listened to and followed religiously.
It’s said that grandparents care more for their grandchildren than their own children.
I don’t know how much of that is myth and how much is reality, but what I do know for sure is that their unconditional love shaped and transformed me into the person I am today.
They were there for me through everything, from my first steps to my first devastating failure at an exam.
They knew how to remove any fear or sadness with a simple hug.
But they shaped me not only emotionally.
Their knowledge, their advice… they were the foundation of my balance in life!
Grandpa always knew how to fix anything, from a toy to a teenager’s broken heart.
Grandma, on the other hand, was an expert in natural remedies and delicious recipes. Her food not only soothed my hunger but also my soul.
Have you noticed how grandparents have this rare gift of making any problem seem smaller?
Somehow, their magic transforms the world into a better, kinder place.
Of course, I miss them terribly.
I admit that sometimes the pain is so great it makes you want to do reckless things out of frustration.
But hey, that’s life, right?
A mix of sweetness and bitterness.
I conclude with a quote that I really like and that always makes me laugh: “If you can’t convince them, confuse them with the truth.”
Who knows?
Maybe that’s what my grandparents were doing when it seemed like they had answers to everything.
Grandparents are undoubtedly unsung heroes.
