John Stewart did not really use racism or stereotypes in his pieces. He used plain old good humor. What I was trying to get at was when a Comedian makes a joke that’s racially funny or based on a stereotype, we laugh right? Even when Russell Peters makes his $34.50 joke about Indians being cheap. We are the own culprits. I love Russell and he is funny but I feel like as netizens when we post about a certain joke we should also talk about the underlying assumptions and what alternate truths exist. Stereotypes exist cos a race previously were know to practice/be good at or just associated with a particular characteristic.
