Re:Mind is a start-up, that develops smart jewellery devices incorporating simple reminder function to train and practice mindfulness and healthier workplace habits.

The Smart jewellery device is connected to a mobile app to schedule reminders and build an individual self-care program.

The Brief

  • Create the brand identity, logo design, UI and UX for the mobile app.
  • To be intuitive and straightforward, so that busy parents can quickly set up their reminders schedule, both individually or a family one.
  • Create an MVP.

The Team

My Role

I took lead in the wireframes design, prototyping and testing process and I was actively involved in all other processes championed by my team mates.

The Process

We followed the agile process above. Starting with research and planning, then used our insights to design and create a prototype we could test by the end of the week.

  • Week 1: paper prototype
  • Week 2: mid-fidelity wireframes in Sketch
  • Week 3: high-fidelity prototype (working with our UI team)

Survey and Interview Findings

We kicked off the research phase with online survey and gathered over 160 responses from our target audience. We also carried out interviews with a couple of people that were interested in mindfulness.

Affinity Diagram

Following the interviews and online surveys, we noted down the pain points, user motivations and interests on individual post-its. These post-its were grouped to understand the key user’s issues and needs. Then we were able categorise the app features into Must Haves, Nice to Have and Not Needed.

Competitor Analysis

This was done to compare our App features with the other apps that offer similar service . We narrowed our analysis to two apps (Oura and Bellabeat) because they are the closest to our app in the features offered and they also connect to a smart jewellery.

User Personas

Based on information obtained at the earlier phase of research, We could clearly spot that we had two main personas that represent potential customers’ motivators and pain points. Please meet Anne our lead persona , a busy professional mum. She really needs to destress from home and work life .

Storyboard

Using our persona Anne , we created a user scenario to connect Anne to a real person who is juggling a lot and needs take some time out to destress. In this story board we can see how the App helps Anne achieve her goals and obtain a healthy work life balance.

Information Architecture Site Map

A sitemap was created to help gauge an understanding of the App hierarchy. The major pages on the app are highlighted.

User Flow

If Anne as a first time user wanted to set up a new sequence(reminder) , this user flow would be the path she follows on the App interface to complete the task.

Customer Journey Map

Delving a little deeper, we mapped the ways in which the personas would get engaged with the app , identifying pain points, needs and opportunities.

Testing

The wireframes were prototyped for usability testing and the users were giving the following tasks to carry out .

Tasks

— Create a new sequence

— Edit a current sequence

— Add a new device

— Go to tutorials

MoodBoard

This art direction is gives a energised and refreshing feel. The pictures generally depict open airy spaces with a calming and spirited feel.

Style Tile

Style Tile

We chose “Filson Pro” font for the App due to its rounded curves and legibility on various devices. It was used for general headers and body text. Two button styles were made, one filled and the other as a ghost button. The filled buttons were used for priority CTAs while, the sleek ghost buttons were for the less priority.

Summary

Our team was successfully able to deliver an MVP to the client. The product was built from scratch because the client did not have any on ground . The App being about mindfulness ensured we designed it to be easy to use.(wouldn't want users get stressed using their stress relief app)

The final prototype was received very well by the client. Furthermore, the client is eager to start developing this design as soon as possible. I hope that this app gets launched soon because i believe it is something i personally need and a lot of people will benefit from.
