Barney and others who write without compassion for the perilous state of journalists in Mexico fail to understand that almost every week another Mexican journalist is brutally murdered by the cartels for exercising freedom of speech, and doing their job as reporters. Mexico has been declared the most dangerous country in the world for journalists. The way to silence them — for exposing the corruption of both the Mexican and U.S. government in collusion due to the enormous sums of money in narcotrafficking — is to murder reporters. The hope that there is safety/asylum in the U.S. speaks to a sadly former story of an America that upholds justice and protects those legitimately seeking political asylum. Lucky for you to have the freedom of speech to write whatever the heck you want.
