I may have heard and I know I’ve seen the phrase used more than a couple times. Sometimes it’s coupled with the word “Brown.” I’ve been exposed to this pairing enough that it is etched in my brain. And when I think of it, my mind may create phrases you’d probably hear on the news.
“There’s a war on Black and Brown bodies.”
“Black and Brown bodies are not valued in America.”
Now, I’m not saying these aren’t true, but why express the sentiment of racism and racial injustice like that? …
“If I give you a piece of my mind, do you think I’ll have peace of mind?” The words spilled from her mouth and arranged into a question.
“How big of a piece?” he replied.
“One the size of my whole brain.”
He scratched his head. “Yeah, that’ll do it.”
It’s no secret that our brains are amazing. They keep your heart pumping, store your memories, and are the reason you breathe without even thinking about it.
Needless to say, brains are important too.
And with your brain comes your mind.
Now, I like to think of my mind as something a bit more abstract than my brain. …
