Yep. It’s that time of the year again. Time to set yearly goals and resolutions. I know you’re thinking about them. So am I. But I’m also setting something extra for 2018 — a yearly theme.

I set a theme for 2017 too — for me, this year was about ‘fearlessness’. All my goals were focused on taking actions that forced me to get out of my comfort zone and face my fears head on. And I think I did pretty good — starting with me going to a lot of random events & meeting new people, to going on a trip with 6 total strangers, conducting an art workshop where I had to teach 16 people some doodling (and also speak publically!), running a half-marathon in Lisbon (and exploring Madrid, Barcelona & Lisbon), and finally making a very bold career decision (more on that soon). Among other things.

Setting a theme gave a purpose to my goals. Whatever my goal, my focus was to think about the fears and hesitations around that goal and face them head-on. Yes, it was tough. Yes, I failed a lot too. But I only got better with each failure.

So I’m doing this for 2018 too. Building on the theme of ‘fearlessness’, 2018 will be my year of ‘experiments’. In 2018, I plan to try out a lot of new things and see what works and what doesn’t. Some projects will stick. A lot of them won’t. I’ll never know until I don’t try.

Publishing weekly on Medium is one of those experiments. For the next 6 weeks, I’ll publish a post each week. I want to see what happens after my 6 posts — and that determines whether I’ll continue writing or not. But for now, I want to share my thoughts and ideas with the world, initiate and add to the discussion and get things off my mind - some of my opinions are just dying to be heard.
