Studio Update #11
New studio update let’s fucking go. Let’s start with tracking the growth goals from last week:
Get a new case study out on HEX site, post a 60–90 second breakdown of the Black Jays project on IG / X, and submit the RFP on our desk. And maybe design a poster or 2 :)
A new case study is out on the HEX site. Check it out hex.inc/work/puffpaw. This one is for a new type of project we’ve been recently doing: full-cycle creative subscription. I talked about the structure of these type of engagements in the past but its basically a monthly retainer where we lead all things design / branding.
Daily updates, pause whenever, all async. We did the brand work for Puffpaw in 1 week and their landing page + ecom UI in 1 week. So they still have 2 weeks left in their monthly subscription. Have a look at the daily updates we send them below:
Also shared some work we did for them here:
Second itme, I did not end up doing the video breakdown of the Black Jays project although I did write a v1 draft of the script for it. The more I read the script, the more I realized that I did not want to do the video. The fast paced tiktok-style video did not do justice to the work we did.
And we did submit the RFP on the website project we got last week. I quoted about 20% more than our usual engagement rate for such a project since we’re almost booked. And the RFP did look a little more complex than most web project we’ve taken. Now, it’s up to the universe 🙏
Finally, here’s a poster I designed for fun for one of my favourite quotes:
Those were the items I had planned for this week. Other than that, this has been a pretty busy week for us again. Working on a big website build for a tech company, helping ship new web pages + animations for one of our retainer clients, designing brand decks (powerpoint sucks), making small changes to an almost live landing page, and developing a VC site.
I took Friday and the weekend off to chill out for a bit before we kick off a new project this week and get deeper into the existing projects running. For this week, I want to get another case study out on the HEX site but on top of that I want to organize all of our projects into categories. We’re putting out way too much design work with no organization. We have 1 week sprints and 3 month rebrands in the same gallery. There needs to be some kind of differentiation there.
A final focus for this week will be to add some way of organically getting search traffic on the site. Right now, 90% of the traffic comes from galleries that have listed us and social media. Organic search traffic is basically 0. We can help improve this by adding some of our original brand content — mostly process breakdowns — to the website.
So to put it together:
- Get new case study on HEX site
- Organize projects with categories
- Clean up old case studies
- Move our “process breakdowns” on the website
Basically want to do a little lift-off of our studio site. Alright that’s all. See ya same time next week, peace.
