Studio Update #16
This will be another short update as most of last week I was still on vacation. Got back a couple days ago and am now catching up with everything.
I wrote the following as my goals on the last update:
product retainer application
find person to make animation for case study
catch up on everything.
still working on that application. it’s becoming a larger project as i didn’t quite scope it well. hopefully we can get this wrapped up in the next few days. winning this contract will be game changing for HEX, so I’m happy to spend as much time and effort on the prep.
i found a couple amazing animators who can help bring life to our branding case studies. bringing motion to the work we do is a very natural progression for the studio. with animated brand mockups and presentational elements, we can create a nice marketable case study to share across socials, website, and press.
finally, i have caught up on all our projects and work. i’m managing a couple contractors currently and i’m honestly a little disappointed in their approach to work. it’s hard to get people to care about your work, even when you give them money. i’ve seen a lot of freelancers falling short on their promises simply because they don’t want to work but want to do anything they can to close you as a client. i’m seeing delayed updates, no communication, poor quality work, zero design thinking, and an overall sleepy approach to work they were once passionate about (before i paid them). i want to work with more people who genuinely care about their craft and see the value in serving to clients, and less with people getting by doing the bare minimum.

- new IG reel
- new personal brand project to show the evolution in our work
- case study for wayfinder.
