Studio Update #21

Mid-month studio update here we go…

I want to start off by noting that I’m 2 days late on this update. Mainly because of client work but also because I kept pushing off one of the 3 items on my checklist. Let’s get into it…

Progress check

This is a review of the items / goals I set for myself on the last update.

Start the YouTube channel (v1 video)
This was a big task that I set for myself. The goal was to ship a shitty v1 of any video. I did write a script for a video idea, and recorded a couple drafts but I ended up not shipping that since I totally hated it. It felt super uncomfortable and out of the realm of my interests, so I scrapped the idea. To make up for it, I did use some of those recordings and put together an Instagram Reel instead. It’s live below:

Ship RFP Campagin
This is now developed and shipped! I’m super happy about the campagin we were able to develop and I’m feeling confident that we will get this project. It will be a big deal for the studio if we do. I haven’t shared the designs on this too much so I’ll just throw some snippets of the campaign we did below

So this was a big W for us. Even if we don’t win this, I can always use the branding to do a case study and ship a nice press release for this.

New SEO Blog (+ host on HEX website)

I’m not too sure if it’s a good idea to have duplicate blogs but right now I’m not really losing out on anything since Medium writings hardly get any clicks.

Submit Press Patchwork
I have submitted our case study to Creative Boom + It’s Nice That. This feels like it’s not super effective for some reason.

Client work updates:

  • New client project kick-off at retainer
  • Landing page design tasks (minor fixes)
  • Product illustrations for a landing page
  • Overseeing Webflow dev for VC site
  • Brand iterations for a marketplace
  • Concept and presentation for municipal elections

Before moving on, I want to also mention that I’ve started a new Dribbble account which I’ve been updating daily for the last 2 weeks. We have 1 follower lol. Check it out:

Goals

These are goals I’m setting for myself to complete for the next update

Post 3 Instagram Reels
There are some things that are now just part of routine so I don’t need to set goals for them. Cue, posting on IG. I’ve been posting daily without fail so I feel like that shouldn’t be a task on this list anymore. However, I do want to double down on IG reels and make sure I’m reaching out to new audiences with reels. So, my goal for this week is to post 3 Reels on top of my regular daily post schedule. This will be a bit of a challenge but I want to keep trying new formats until something takes off there.

So, last week, I posted 7 times on my IG. This week, I will post 7 times + 3 Reels = 10 posts. Simple.

New Case Study for Lyxos
This is another item that’s become a bit too easy for us, so this is the last time it will be on my Goal list. A new case study for a project we just wrapped up.

Ship HEX Landing Page
This is a cool idea I had a while back. I want to ship a landing page that promotes a specific offer. Eg — VC rebrands, White Label Retainer, Webflow Dev. This will include a small proposal, sample projects, and a clear CTA that I can share in cold emails, reachout, or to interested clients. I will ship one of these by the next update.

Notes:

I want to think about buying a slot of The Brand Identity’s work showcase plan. This might help with distribution on IG. I need to find our highest performing case study and make sure we’re putting our best foot forward here. Right now, that’s Black Jays. So I might just redo some of the case study assets and ship that.

Update on X situation: https://x.com/ayushsoni_io is back! But, I don’t have access to it yet. Still working with X team on this, but things are in motion.
